NuConomy Studio allows you to easily understand how users arrive at your site, through both paid and organic means. This data is very useful in order to optimize your marketing efforts. Below are questions that are answered in the Referrers tab in the NuConomy Studio.

Which referrers contribute the most?

This report shows you the site or search engine a user visited just before visiting your site (i.e. all the sites that link to your site). By using this report, you can see how many visits each of these sites (referrers) sent you. Additionally, you can see the exact contribution each one of these referrers gave to your business.
How is this done? When a user visits your site, NuConomy attributes all of that user’s activities to the referring site that sent you this user. For example, if a user arrives at your site via a Google keyword and then views ten pages, posts two comments and clicks on two ads on your site, all of those activities are now considered part of the overall contribution of the referrer Google to your business.

Note that you can also use the drop down list on the report to see how many unique users or overall visits each of the referrers sent you, too.

Which origin referrers contribute the most?

A user can arrive at your site in many ways (e.g. direct, search, etc.); this report tracks which referrer led to the 1st visit of each user to your site. All subsequent activities by that user are also attributed to this original referrer. Looking at this information shows useful insights regarding lifetime value of customers.
For example, suppose a user arrives at your site for the 1st time via a paid Yahoo keyword. Then, the same user visits again, the next times via a Google search and a Delicious bookmark; these subsequent visits, and all activities performed by the user, will be attributed to the original referrer, Yahoo.

Which search terms makes my site tick?

NuConomy also tracks all the keywords users input into search engines which eventually lead to a visit to your site. Once at your site, NuConomy attributes all the activities that the user performs to that keyword, too.
For example, suppose a user enters a keyword into a search engine and subsequently clicks on that keyword to be directed to your site. Once at your site, that user reviews items, posts comments and purchases an item. All of these activities are attributed to the keyword which originated the site visit.
This is an important distinction; instead of tracking which keywords drive traffic, you are able to see which keywords drive valuable traffic (valuable as defined by you). This is very powerful as it allows you to understand how to optimize the bidding process for search terms on leading search engines. Instead of bidding for keywords that drive the most traffic to your site, you can now bid for keywords that drive the most valuable, qualified audience to your site, yielding a much higher ROI.
